If you’re looking for a place to dine out in the Rivierenbuurt, try Cafe Remouillage. This friendly neighbourhood restaurant is cool without even trying. Owner and chef Jonathan spent some time in Asia and combines French cooking techniques with Asian style cooking. He calls it casual fan (the Chinese word for rice) dining.

Swing by for just a drink and something small to eat or stay the whole evening and try everything on the menu.

I love the minimalistic interior and I also love that they have a terrace where you can have your dinner.

Try the fish head. It’s their signature dish and it comes with lettuce and sauces. You wrap the fish in the greens and top in with the sauce. Really worth the try.

This restaurant is all about ugly delicious. No Instagram worthy dishes or cress or flowers to brighten up the dishes. You’re more likely to find a chicken’s leg upright on the plate. Also no one did an effort to go shopping for cute china. And that is exactly what makes restaurant Rijsel fabulous. It is what it is. You eat what you see and it’s all soo good.
