Cafe Remouillage

If you’re looking for a place to dine out in the Rivierenbuurt, try Cafe Remouillage. This friendly neighbourhood restaurant is cool without even trying. Owner and chef Jonathan spent some time in Asia and combines French cooking techniques with Asian style cooking. He calls it casual fan (the Chinese word for rice) dining.

Swing by for just a drink and something small to eat or stay the whole evening and try everything on the menu.

I love the minimalistic interior and I also love that they have a terrace where you can have your dinner.

Try the fish head. It’s their signature dish and it comes with lettuce and sauces. You wrap the fish in the greens and top in with the sauce. Really worth the try.

Rijsel

restaurant Rijsel Amsterdam

This restaurant is all about ugly delicious. No Instagram worthy dishes or cress or flowers to brighten up the dishes. You’re more likely to find a chicken’s leg upright on the plate. Also no one did an effort to go shopping for cute china. And that is exactly what makes restaurant Rijsel fabulous. It is what it is. You eat what you see and it’s all soo good.

No set menu, eat as you like. Quite impossible to get in without a reservation. But you can call on the day itself to see if they have a cancellation.

Restaurant Rijsel is famous for their roasted chicken and huzaren salad. The latter one is an old fashioned salad you can find in most snackbars, but they upgraded it and it’s damn good. This restaurant is a real must try if you’re dining out in Amsterdam East.

Bar Alt is the first restaurant in Amsterdam who introduced a beer sommelier and a beer and food pairing. They will make you look at having a beer at dinner in a totally new way. Sometimes they drive for days to some deserted beer brewery in Europe just to pick up a box of this golden stuff and they are happy to let you try why they love it so much.
